I have been reading these pages and I am surprisedthat people ask such question advice from total strangers. these are issues that will change or make your life /why dont you pay a little and ask lawyers who are qualified in this field.
free advice can not always be accurate

Hi there ,
I read your post and i think you are totally wrong. What is the guarantee that when u pay the lawyer you will get right information.
let me give u my example. I am on a student visa, last summer when I went to India,a lawyer in New Delhi totally brainwashed me to convince my parents to apply for Immigration as that will be best way for me to get immigration as a dependent. I forced my parents to apply( as they do not want to migrate to canada) just for me.
Turns out one year after they tell me I won't be a dependent as I am working now. During the course of the application we confirmed various times abt this fact from him.
I am talking abt a prestigious firm called CanAchieve Consultants in New Delhi who have a HO in Vancouver.
SO a paid lawyer totally misguided us from day 1 just to make money.
So PLS do not write such negative remarks on the discussion board.IF PEOPLE CAN HELP EACH other from their experience..WHAT IS THE HARM in that???
I agree with housescarborough. Now days all the information are available on net and you can ask in discussion forms. If your case is simple, having all the documents, results of IELTS if needed and all supporting documents then you can do yourself.
One more thing there is difference between immigration lawyer and consultant. These consultants donot have law degree from Canada. So if your case is really complicated then hire lawyer not consutlant.
Hello Rahul,
thanks for supporting my argument.
I just wanted to correct you on one thing when I talked abt my case we hired a lawyer..CanAchieve..they have a Headoffice in Vancouver,Canada with lawyers having degree from Canada
Hi
I would always seek professional advice if the case is borderline or very complicated. Most lawyers/consultants offer free assessments - consultants must be members of the CSIC to practice.
If your application is strong and straight forward and you are confident about compiling/submitting yourself then why pay someone a fair amount of your settling funds? If you have any doubts then hire a professional as your future life is just too important to gamble with.
There is no doubt that forums such as this provide a huge resource for everyone and supply leads/information that are very important. As with everything in life, each person makes their own choices about which information to use. The fact that someone has had a bad experience with the lawyer from India needs to be highlighted so that anyone else looking at hiring them can consider that before they part with any hard earned money.

we used canadavisa.com these ppl are listed on the CIc web site. i neve r had to write here and ask for advise as to whtt was going on . they had all the answers for us. they made all the correspondense with cic so easy. i just think it is so much less stress.
there are ppl who ask such important questions about their cases here and i wondered how they trust the advice they get. i answer to the ones that look like situations that are like mine. but even then i could be wrong. about taxes etc.
just my opinion. but i thought my experience with cambeland cohen was so good that it made worth the $1500 we paid them to do it.
