Hi
i am a regular reader of C.D. articles and have learned a lot out of it.
again today i need your suggestion about sponsering my family.
i am an IT professional having total household income above 60k/annum. my family members i want to sponser are Father - Monther and younger sister ( sister - age 23 - unmarried - cont. studying - dependent on my parents)
now my question is - which is the best way to sponser my sister here as i am more concerned about her because it will take more then 3 yrs if i will wait for family class visa.
i have few options in my mind , let me know how it sounds to u.
- apply for family class visa (parents and sister) then apply for sisters student visa.
- get student visa for sister first then apply for immigration separately once she get here.(her education MSC + PG Bioinformatics - fresher)
=== the main reason for thinking of this options is i dont want my sister to wait for more then 3 yrs to get family class P.R. / i want to my sister to be in canada as early as possible.(under my sponsership or my parents)
i hope i will get more ideas and options from C.D. community..
Thanking you in advance..
Happy new year to all
Vik
Try student visa first.
Once u apply for PR sponsorship student visa could be rejected.

Currently, its not 3 years, but a minimum of 4 -5 years for family immigration cases to be finalized. Your file will only be forwarded to New Delhi after 28 months and after that a minimum of 12 - 18 months for medicals and issuing of visas.
In your case, the best option would be to apply for a student visa for your sister and then apply for landed status after that. Sponsor your parents seperately under the family class visa.
By doing this everything looks ok.
But only one drawback is your sister have to get the job in her field and get her own PR applied within canada.
At worst, if she cant manage to get the PR by herself, you can not prove back that she is now dependant on your parent. Bcoz your parent will be depend on you under their PR file.
so bottom line is once she is here, dont have option for her to add in family visa unless and until your parent can get job which is like highly paid to show she is dependant.
But if she is very confident and study well.. student visa is the best option. However, anyone comes from india..have to study for better job propsect.
so the student visa option is good and faster but risky. In family case, its slow and tedious but secure..
so now option is yours.
Under family class, you can sponsor your parents (3-4years) and then they can sponsor your sister (another 3-4 years if not more) when they are eligible by income criteria.
I believe student visa is the fastest and more secure way. She may even marry (planned or naturally) to a citizen or PR ....while on her student visa.
All the best.

You can sponser your family within 3-4 years that's correct, but then your parent should able to get higher income here in canada to sponser your sister and they can sponser your sister only if she is dependat as full time student. After 3-4 years, how she will keep on studying. Also, I know some cases where study is not genue they will not consider. Means, if she have done B.E .. she can go for M.E and then PHD .. she can't be doing other courses just like some ceritifcation ..in hotel admin..etc just to show she is continuing for education.
so plan it well and take decision accordingly.
