The OCI means you have life times VISA to Visit India. Like NRI you had financial freedom in India but not right like voting, Govt Job ,public office.
HI Folks,
I have received OCI card and Life long visa stamp on my canadian passport.
My canadian passport is valid for 5 years after which I have to surrender old passport with "life long visa stamp" and apply for new one. The new passport which will be issued by Canada will not have LIFE LONG Visa stamp-----------
Do I need to visit Indian embassy ( Trust me it is FUN) once again to get that stamp or I can travel with OCI card ?
Altough I have still five years to go--------I am just curious !!
Question II:
Has anybody got any idea on OCI card for kids ?
HOw can LIFE LONG OCI card be issued for a kid when his features will change over period of time-----I mean one year --he/ she will not look the same when they are 5 years old ?
When you will apply for a new PP , old PP doesn't get surrendered ..They just cancel it and give it back ..
With kids the photo will change but not the particulars ...So it really doesnt matter .. OCI ( document ) without foreign PP doesn't hold any value anyway ..
You do not NEED to visit Embassy for travel purposes ...So cheers !!

Growing Old Is Mandatory ..Growing UP is Optional
If you want, you can get the OCI sticker on your new passport for a fee (fee details at cgitoronto.ca) or simply carry your old passport that has the sticker.

Thanks folks;
Some relief as I will not be required to go to Indian Embassy-----I was let down by the behaviour of the staff and the way everything is handled--
Hi AshwaniG and RajCanada,
Please reconfirm your answers above..
If you refer to the OCI-Miscellaneous section on the Cgitoronto webiste, they clearly mention that:
\"OCI registration certificate and āUā visa sticker carry the passport number of the registered OCI. Accordingly, each time a new passport is issued to an OCI holder; it has to be captured on the registration certificate and visa. This would require re-issuance of OCI registration certificate and visa each time a new foreign passport is issued
\"
so, for anyone who is less than 21 years of age...you will need to make a painful trip to the embassy and get a OCI sticker on the new passport..
i am in the same nuisance situation with respect to my 4 year old kid who received his new passport.
Thanks,
seenappa
Seenappa, this is an old thread. New rules have been introduced with regards to OCI sticker on passport for children as you have pasted above. You will need to go consultate or send the passport by mail/courier.
