Hi

I have completed my physical Residence and applied for our citizenship Last week. I called the CIC and learned from them that i might receive my acknowledgement 5 months from now :-)

Seems they have 5 months of backlog for the first Review & Correspondence.

Thought of sharing the info.

yup, yup...I applied for mine on August 21st 2008 and got my ack first week of Feb this year...

With this much of backlog, I would receive my acknowledgment in March/April09. I did apply on Oct.16,2008.Is it the first communication you received from CIC after submitting the application? Good info sharing for further planning.

I applied June 13th/08, accordind to canadapost.ca (tracking number) they received my application on June 17th/08.

I received my acknowledgment letter along with the "Look at Canada" booklet on August 15th/08.

Thank God I applied earlier because it seems to me things are getting slower right now. A friend of mine applied in the begging of November and she still have not rec'd the acknowledgment letter.

Hope it all get fast and easy on you once you receive the acknowledgment.

Application send by mail : Mid May 2008.
Application received by CIC : June 5 2008
Acknowledgement send : June 5 2008
Started Processing Application : Oct 21 2008
Transferred File to local CIC office : Nov 27 2008
Send notice for Citizenship test : Dec 16 2008
Test Date : Jan 14 2009.
Given test on Jan 14 2009.

Waiting for Results and Oath.

Here is my timeline from CIC Oshawa...

Application received by CIC : Aug 7th, 2008
Acknowledgement Sent : Aug 7th 2008
Started Processing Application : Nov 21th 2008
Transferred File to local CIC office : Dec 17 2008
Send notice for Citizenship test : Jan 16, 2009
Test Date : Feb 17th 2009.

This is my timeline .
Application send by mail : Mid March 2008.
Application received by CIC : April 28, 2008
Acknowledgement send : June 16, 2008
Started Processing Application : Nov 18 2008
Staus : Processing, No other Information.
I hope looking at others timelines, i might get something soon too.
My Indian passport recently got expired and I am waiting for something to come from CIC so that I don't have to renew my passport.
