Do you really want to be advertising this? this is technically illegal. '
Also, Why would somebody work full time for no benefits (ie. EI, CPP etc)?

Thanks.

sorry morning rain, I have a friend who is new immigrant like us who is working in a shop and we thought the shop owner deducts $2/- as tax since minimum wage is $10/- I still have to learn a lot in this country. I have found that all employment agencies are doing this. For eg HCR pay $11.5 to employees whereas they get $18 from magnapower etc. I thought this is legal. People who are new immigrant work since they have to get canadian reference and experience.

please feel free to delete this post and I am thankful to you since you brought it to my notice. It will never happen again.

Nice one. You should contact your local MP/MPP and bring this to his attention.

Getting cash without any deduction of Income tax, EI and CPP is illegal. But what you are referring about employment agency is perfectly legal. The difference between they get paid and employee get paid is agency’s commission. And from employees the deduct all taxes on the amount what employee is getting not on what agency is getting from the employer.

What employment agencies’ doing is CORUPTION, although it is legal in Canada. Mostly, the bosses in big companies have share in employment agencies. Hence, the bosses allow employment agencies to bill hefty amounts to the companies. While the difference (which is commission of employment agency) is distributed to various expenses and shared among the owners of agencies (friends/relatives of bosses) and the bosses.

The difference is not limited to $18 & $11.5; It can go as high as $40 & $10. and the beauty is the employee getting $10 per hour pays Income Tax, CPP, EI and other expenses with no over-time (As they will either find another employee or make another agency). In this case, agencies virtually pay no tax and sometimes they get grant for small business losses. In the end employee gets LAID-OFF and agency gets NEW CONTRACT.

Agencies also pay a part of pie to the MP/MPP as political donation; sometimes MP/MPP has shares in agencies who supply work force to the Government. Therefore, writing to MP/MPP will not make any difference except the person will lose the work he is getting from the agency. (See, What a beautiful exploitation!! Most of the agency staff is high school dropouts, while they hire the University degree holders.)

If someone is new to the country, have no job, does not qualify for EI; working for less cash money will be at least be able to put bread on the table. In the mean time, it will give more exposure for the newcomer, and strengthen the small businesses against big corrupt corporations (and MP/MPP, bosses too).

totally agree with that.
recently i came across the same thing even in IT, where the agencies has tie up with management and gets heafty margins and do not pass to the candidates. I worked for one of the telecom company @ 60 now the same positions being offered @ 35 ro 40..under the mask of recession.
this will continue in any field and any country as long as supply and demand equation does not match.
my 2 cents
