Based on my own experience, I feel visiting Disney was not worth. It was too expensive, too tiring and most importantly, kids really did not enjoy it so much. Except for excitement of seeing Disney characters for initial couple of hours, they became more irritated than having fun.
Adults seems to be more excited and try to create more excitement among the kids by pointing to palace, characters etc..whereas kid really wanted to be in hotel, having fun in swimming pool..etc
They rather enjoyed couple of nights of stay at a normal resort with swimming pools and water sports. etc.
How was your experience?

How old are your kids?

How much time/many days did you have? What month did you visit?

Did you drive to Disney world ?
Isn't August too humid out there ?
Also, with summer vacation going the place gets really crowded and one have to wait in long queues for most of the rides.

Your kids are small and it is natural for them to feel tired and impatient, mine were 4yrs when we visited first. There were restrictions too on height. Me and hubby could not enjoy any rides because we were taking care of kids. We are waiting for our next trip but I'm planning a Disney cruise this year which is more fun then the parks and is good for younger kids. They have babysitting and playareas for kids, where you can leave them and enjoy few breaks. for park visit you can try this

-Going in a low crowded season
-Kids needs to be atleast above 7-8 to enjoy all rides
-With Disney, do Sea world too.
-Line only for your kids fav characters and not for all characters....the lines are very tiring.
-Take a Fast Pass option to skip lines on rides and shows (I loved the 3d shows) and manage your time better.

I agree with Jonav. I went to disneyworld when i was 13 years old and really enjoyed it. If you do your research before you go, there are many many forums and articles about age appropriate activities and I think the age of 8 or above is the best.

Also, the best time to go is during the school year, when it is less crowded. Summers are too hot and too crowded

Im excited - im off to disneyLAND tommorow !! with no kids, except ourselves! :)

My kids were not impressed. Only 25 % rides are hi tech. Rest of them were mediocore. They would have enjoyed more on a cruise.
