Hi All,
By mistake in search of one connection flight from india to Toronto i ended up purchasing a ticket via NJ (USA).
The person travelling has a US visitor visa so that is not a issues. But the person is old and the time between the connections is 1 hr 20 min only.
I wanted to know if at NJ transit passengers are required to pull out their checked in luggage and go through immigration. The reason i ask is she is likely to miss the connection if she has to collect her luggage and go through immigration.
Anyone has experience transiting through USA.

Yes, the first port of entry in this case will be US/NJ. Therefore, immigration has to be cleared, baggage claimed and customs must be cleared. Then the baggage must be re-checked to the flight to Toronto.
1 hr 20 min is not adequate at all in my opinion.
US does not have transits structured such as those in Europe and therefore all passengers transiting have to clear immigration /customs.

Hi,
\try calling the airline you are flying from NJ , explain them your difficulty, chances are all there they may accomodate the passenjer in the next connecting flight , thereby gaining the time to complete the immigration formality

Hi,
I had the my instructor give me a lesson in my car on the day of the test on the route I was going to be tested , this gives us all the confidence , and we preety much have the knowledge on what all can we expect on the route.
Obviously it is understood you have no otherlinitations on your driving skills
