No Sound No Recording Compuies what to do..?

I recently got win 2000 p reinstalled since lost sound from speakers and cannot record ,have checked all the stuff nothing is mute wires are plugged in proper slots ,the only change i can see is when audio cd is put it starts on windows media player while earlier it was winamp.
what can i do. have surfed google etc but it is not resolving any suggestion.

It seems you need the drivers for your sound card.. do you see the volume icon in the system tray (where the windows time is shown).. you may have got a seperate CD for your sound card.. install the drivers from that CD.

didnt have the cd so downloaded sis7018 wave from sis site on to Dtop but it has 93 files ,how should i install it have tried couple of file with. excu but didint install.

You have to go to the hardware setting.. look for sound card in that and choose install driver.. and then choose the option of have disk.. and give the folder of the driver you downloaded as the source..

it will then install the drivers.

Speaker cable into Microphone's slot and Mic cable into speaker slot and it works ,afterall it is a canadian computer .
