Hello everyone
I am Anand, I have been thinking to immigrate to Canada from quite some time. I am into Mechanical engineering. I have over 11 years of experience. I have few questions for which I hoping to get replies from you nice people in this forum.
1. Is it a good idea to become permanent resident of Canada?
2. How is the life their?
3. Is their equal opportunity for all in the working environment (any racial discrimination...)?
4. What will be the expenses to migrate (need not to be precise)?
5. What’s the scope for mechanical engineers over their?

1) Yes
2) Good
3) Yes (No)
4) $490 + $200 incidentals + $1000 for travels + $50 to guest house &$40/day
for DIY kit.
5) Currently Good. Get a work permit. Go to Alberta. Starting Salary $40,000 -+
and have your drivers license and a tool box, for a start.

I am new to this forum and thinking about applying for a PR under skilled category.
What other jobs are in demand in Alberta? I was thinking about moving to Alberta once I get my PR, but if the jobs are plenty, I may think about moving there in work permit and start my PR once I am there. I have about 4 years of work experience in IT and 1 year in Operations Research. I have two master degrees, Public Administration and IT. Currently in the US in H1B. Thanks.

You know what your qualifications are and what you are searching for.
So try and find a few jobs in your line of work. Look for the employers there.
Then ask for a work permit, after they select you. Otherwise keep trying.
