I am a licensed insurance broker. A ticket is a ticket and yes it will impact your premium on your renewal. As far as going to the court or challenging the ticket is concerned, the only thing that courts will do is lower the fine with no demerit points but as far as insurance premium is concerned, the insurance does not want to know if you got demerit points or if the fines were lower as that ticket will still show up in your record and will hurt your premiums for next 3 renewals. Yes , I pleaded guilty.But it was a fact and the cop had shown me the speed gun which said I was at 57km. I thought I should accept it. But can we fight even when we are at fault?

Of course. You need to get the disclosure agreement from crown prosecutor carefully study it. Recollect circumstances and come up with some argument (does not have to be the best defence but need to have some base).
