I have submitted my Canadian passport with Indian Embassy for OCI stamping/card on Friday. what is the expected time line to receive this back?
We are planning to travel to Michigan on Thursday through Sunday and was wondering if I donot receive my passport back by then, will I be able to cross the border? I have the receipt from Indian Embassy that the PP is submitted to them and also have a copy of the Canadian Passport. Of course I do have the original Citizenship card with me. Could CDs please share their experience if they have come across a similar situation and were able to cross the border with a copy of the passport and citizenship card?
Thank you in advance.

Documents for entry into the United States
Canadian citizens are required to present one of the following valid WHTI-compliant documents when entering the United States by land or water:
•a passport;
•a NEXUS card;
•a Free and Secure Trade (FAST) card;
•an enhanced driver's licence (EDL) or enhanced identification card (EIC) from a province where a U.S.-approved EDL/EIC program has been implemented; or
•a Secure Certificate of Indian Status.
Here's the list of documents that will allow you entry into US soil -> http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/whti-ivho/ls-tm-eng.html
The receipt from the Indian Embassy carries no weight and it is highly unlikely that you will be allowed entry on the basis of your passport copy and citizenship card.

Please do not attempt to enter US without one of the valid documents stated above by quest. You will very likely be denied entry.
