Meghal,
there has been umpteen discussions on this. if you see the old threads you will know. I have also written a thesis on this in CD but let me write my opinions in short again for those who donot search the charcha.
1. use chinese stores for all shopping needs. for rice and spices go to indian food store.
2. Pump gas when it is cheapest. in the night mostly. see / locate a gas stn. where the gas price is lower than the normal prices regularly.
3. save in ICICI/ING your extra money. They offer more interest on un used mony. Use ING/PC financial for banking than the big 5 for no service / monthly charges.
4. when you get any change, you will find that there are a lot of amaerican coins in that. save that aside. Will help you when you visit USA
5. Some Garage sales offer new stuff. Try to get that at a fraction of the cost.
6. Try to use internet provider as per your needs. Diapl up 295.ca offers dial up at $3.16 per month.
7. reliance india offers good price for india callers when compared to most calling card.
8. A $1.38 Loblaws french fry pack is atleast twice better than french fries at KFC, MaC's etc..

Sidenote : More as it comes to my mind. See this post regularly. I will be updating it as ideas come and when i find free time.

I am a Gents and not a Ladies.
I think the above discussion is meaningless unless one specifies his take home income.
Can you guys suggest me some money saving techniques apart from the ones you have mentioned - since those won't save me much but will give me a lot of pain. My family income (not the tax return income, but actual income!!!) is about 220k/annum with net take home about 160k. I find that in Canada my monthly expenses average about 15k so at the end of the year I am either out by 20 k or just about make it!
No savings atall!!
Please oh please suggest some really good but generic methods of saving money without compromising life style much.

Advice is free – lessons I charge for!!
Chandreshji,
As you had mentioned, unless we know how you spend for 15K a month can we/i suggest some cost cutting measures (without compromising on your life style).
Another point is : you get 220K (before Tax) and 160K (after tax). Maybe you can do some prudent tax saving investments in your 220K so as to get you more than 160K (which you currently get after tax).
Please PM if you want and if you donot want to share personal financial details on a public (but moderated) board.
