The then director of Integral Productions, Irfaan Khan, had gone on record admitting that the company owed Rs 5.10 crores to DD. His excuse for non-payment was that the company could not "sell the planned advertisement slots for 31 episodes of the sponsored serial". It was also alleged that the extension was given to the serial by violating the laid down norms."
