We went to Sai Lila a few days back. This small take-out is a shame. I have seen cleaner and more hygienic farsan shops in villages of Gujarat. I just wonder if Toronto has a hygiene dept to carry out periodic checks. The food was very oily, but that is my experience with every other restaurant I have been to in GTA. Another minus is that they do not accept debit or credit. However the guys behind the counter were very friendly ; normally you do not see such smiling faces in desi shops.
Khaman were good. That is one thing me and my wife loved. But unless some one informs me the place is cleaner I would never visit again.

I don't think they have any Jain food, but I tried a vegetarian restaurant about a week back and loved the food. The restaurant is called Rajdhani, its in the little desi area at Albion and Islington in Rexdale.
Address is 2658, ISLINGTON AVE., REXDALE - ON.
I had the chana kulcha ($3.99) and my wife had the thali ($4.99). Very very reasonably priced. The chana kulcha was fantastic and for the price, a real bargain as well. The thali was good too. Worth trying out.

Are you there?
BL,
If you had noticed one of my earlier posts i have praised the same restaurant b'cos of the good and inexpensive quality of food available (Rajdhani). This restaurant is close to my office and i used it almost everyday around march - may 2006. However, I found that daily intake of that spicy and oily subji spoilt my stomach. So too much of anything is not good.
Returning to the OP:
In an Advt. I found that Madras Dosa (Newin Centre-Hwy10 & DUndas St.) now offers Jain Dishes. But i canot vouch for the originality nor the price as the owner is a crook. He charges too much for too little a product. Fortunately with the advant of HSB/Anjappar Buffet his business is down and he is offering deals. When i used to buy at his place, I used to literally see him cheating Northies and the Carribian Indians by exaggerating facts. Also since he does over customer service, I stopped buying at his place.

For jain (eggless) cake, try A-one cakes & Pastries. They are located in Brampton. Just google for for full address.
We ordered a cake sometime back for my daughter's B'day. The cake was great and price is also reasonable.
Thanks.

Welcome to Jain food hunt community. Happy to learn that there are people looking for jain food.
I am enjoying food at the downtown Udipi place, they make sambhar without onion.
I have never ever dared to go in for punjabi vegetable dishes.
Saffron tree, a restaurant, located in downtown (89 Gerrard st, west) I know the owner personally, he has been serving jain items on request,
Chennai chef, restaurant on Kennedy at steels, prepares jain sambhar too on request.
I am hunting for jain cakes, unsuccessfully.
Post your findings if and any as and when you find one.
Hope this helps
