Agreed, its expensive for poor in India to get good treatment in private hospitals. But those who are covered, can get a quick MRI or CT Scan thru a walk in. How many can get a walk in MRI in Canada?

We r not talking of emergency here. Regular MRI only. Why go to US for MRI? Pay for transportation, hospital, etc.
That's the advantage in India. U get a walk in MRI.

I am a person from Tamil nadu and our 2 tier health care is the best as i know.
Higer poor class upwards use private clinics for healthcare as the cost is quite affordable.
Govt. hospitals are not over crowded but only that the doctors and nurses either are not there during work hours or are lethargic. But i guarentee that the poorest of the poor just need to wait less than that we wait in the emergency.
for e.g., if you go to the govt. hospital at 9:00 am, maybe you can see the doctor at 11:00 am. This waiting time is unacceptable to Indians and hence those who can afford see private doctors.
I have had relatives who have had cancer and they had got radiation (Free of Charge) in govt. hospitals.
My dad was the head / surgeon of a govt. veterinary clinic in Tamilnadu from 1968 to 1979 (when we relocated to Africa) and he treated all the cows, dogs, cats, sheep, chickens free of charge and the medicines were free of charge too. All people who came that day with animals were treated on the same day -All with govt. free medicines). He used to do private practice for the cows which could not be brought to the clinic. If the govt. treats animals this way, then how much more would they treat human beings.
I know that in the town, govt. medical doctors sometimes skip govt. duties and do private practice in working hours and this needs to be checked/ corrected.
Whenever i visit the emergency rooms in Canadian hospitals, I feel like spitting on the doctors/ health care workers faces as it is pure and pure exploitation. In many GTA hospitals, i have seen only one doctors in the emergency and umpteen no of nurses, supportworkers. It really surprises me to know that ontario spends 50% of its budget on this stupid healthcare. Why canot they learn from India, where you do get quality healthcare solutions at a fraction of the cost. Atleast , canada must recogonise the doctor degrees of Indians who passed out from govt. colleges.
Just my opinion. Take it or leave it.

TK is right,
Last two days I have been to two different hospitals, my son has a fracture on Left hand, they need 24 hrs before took him to operation room. I just like to forget that 24 hrs from my life!!!
We may understand that shortage of Doctors and specialist, but while waiting when you see that numberS of Health care worker eating and laughing etc…, and when you ask something, behavior at that moment from them…I can’t even describe
Yes, lot of people on line, everyone is going to be treated as emergency, but hospital management can train them to how to handle this situation. This is basic different between private hospital worker and Govt Hospital. But it should not be because I was living at Italy, where also Medial was free, one time I didn’t had a Health Card and have to take my son at hospital, using my ID card they have provided every treatment he need to have it.
Question is; does the situation will Change at Canada? Will go better or worse? I can only pray to GOD that it will go better! Just because CANADA is very nice country to live!

The emergency room services in Canada is abused big time. Working parents who throw their kids in the daycare, rush to the emrgency room in the evening after work when the prince (or the princess) is sneezing. And they complain that it takes time to see the doctor. Why not go to a walk in? Hell no, they want to go only to the emergency, get a magic wand treatment, so that they can throw the prince (or the princess) back in the daycare next morning. Its common to get sick in a daycare. That does not mean that the parents have to go to the emergency.
For ex., I went to see a friend of mine in the hospital. I had to go thru the emergency doors. There I saw a gora family, the princess abt 12-13 yrs old, fell playing soccer and had some scratches on her leg. The nurse put some medication on it with a band to cover. The entire family showed up in the emergency. Was it necessary? I think not. The parents could have put something on the scratches at home, why run to the emergency. The girl walked back to the car. I was just standing there watching the entire tamasha.
