Hello,
I have noticed that there are some people here that are good in 3D animation. I am currently using 3D Studio Max and am creating an animation. I have trouble how to change the camera during an animation. I was wondering if any of you guys can help me please. Thank you.
Hi Lucky,
You need to tell me more about why you want to change your camera. Is it a walkthrough or is it some other reason? Most softwares allow you to greate arig for the camera so your virtual camera would work like in the real world. You can also animate the camera along a path in almost any software. With camera animation..be careful..its what can make your work look really amateurish. I think its best to contact me privately on this topic...It may not be really beneficial for cdesi members. Maybe there are three of us on this board in the field?
Also if you are really interested in growing as an artist I would advice you to post such questions to the various online forums which you can join for free. They also have software specific areas on each forum...so you could post to the max area. these are a few forums off the top of my head
www.highend3d.com
www.3dbuzz.com
www.cgtalk.com
also sites like www.spicycricket.com contains a mine of resources and links. I also think that Angie Jones who runs that site uses Max.
Also dont be afraid to post your work on any forums. You cannot gain anything by being afraid to go out there and get your efforts criticised. It will help you grow as an artist. You have no idea of the trashing my work has received on these forums...but keep an open mind and you will get there. You will learn a lot from others.
My latest work has been luckier and some people seem to like it e.g:

I need to give you every bit of detail on why I need to switch camera's in an animation?!! And with all do respect, I am not concerned about what is and isn't beneficial to "cdesi" at this time. I am very worried about my project, as it is due in the next few days, so I was hoping to get some help. Never mind.
Is there any reason you want multiple cameras in the scene and you want to cut between them?Is the new camera for a cut? Or are you changing the position of the camera?
Basically, you are the one who needs help. Not me. You need to make yourself clear and explain your needs better. You sound like you have no idea of what you are doing but for someone like me...there are quite a few ways in which I use cameras in my scene. I dont have time to sit down and explain each one one of them to you...speculating on what your scenario is.
As for the rest...all you sound like you want to do is to take care of your own needs. So why would you think I should help you? If you read carefully I had asked you to contact me privately for help. Not anymore however. All the best
p.s: its all 'due' respect.

Me not knowing what I'm doing? I don't think so buddy. I'm taking an introductory course and I'm only 16 years old. So I hope you weren't expecting me to have multiple years of experience. The only thing I'm having trouble with is the camera switching. You're making it sound as if I'm asking you to create the entire project for me. Maybe YOU should try reading properly! And as for you helping me now, this topic didn't have to go this far, but I dont want your help anymore, because it looks to be like it's you that doesn't know what's going on. I don't need to give you every bit of detail of my project just to switch cameras for a few seconds. Thanks for nothing, Jacob.
Neel...you are welcome
