Hi All,
For some time now I have been thinking of starting a kiosk over the weekends at any one of the Flea Markets in GTA, preferably Mississauga or nearby. I have been deciding on what to sell in the kiosk. Are there any suggestions?
I have to keep some factors in mind:
- people living close by, their choices and preferences
- other kiosks in the flea market should not be selling similar products
- I was thinking of getting some goods from the wholesale market and selling them in retail, preferably ladies accessories...but since there are no consolidated wholesale markets in Toronto it is difficult to decide what to deal in.
- What about handcrafts, do they sell well?
- How about second hand books for a cheap price? Will anyone buy those considering the libraries around?
If you people could help me with some suggestions, it would be great.
Also if anyone is interested in something similar so that a joint kiosk can be started, suggestions are welcome.
Thanks
From my experience, I have found only the following items moving fastly from any flea market :
1. fast food items (Most people who come to the flea market eat lots and the prices for these items are rediculously high that you would stand to make a very decent profit.)
2. Vegetable and fruits
3. calling cards (may be lotto if the area consits of blacks, philipino's)
4. Cellphone services and accessories
All other shops just are empty or make very negligible sales..

Hi tamilkuravan,
Thank you very much for your response. It is indeed helpful.
Fast foods is a good option. My only concern is that if packaged fast foods are sold, can one get them at wholesale prices too?
Or should these foods be prepared and sold? In that case will it not be an issue that foods being sold will not be of some brandname and are being sold in the open?
Do guide me.
Thanks a lot for your helpful response.
I am having a Kiosk in Flea Market (Mississauga) and find it quite sucessful. I am importing whatever I sell in Kiosk, so my price is reasonable, quality is good and profits are not bad.
As this is only on weekends, easy to manage if you don't mind working on weekends. Drop me a PM with contact no. and we can talk to share experience further.
