Hi Guys,

I have red light camera ticket i am checking my options except paying it off.

I was reading the artical of another friend over here, in which he had been waived off the red light camera ticket upon his discloser of some artical of court rulling the camera evidences.

As the artical was two years old i dont know what the best option for such fines.

If somebody can through some lights over here.

Thank you guys

Sorry to ask another question in your thread but how does this work ? Meaning lets say someone else was driving your car, then who would pay fine ? camera only captures plate no.

i am assuming if u say u lent ur car to someone else then they will ask for details of that someone else ?

Once you are captured on camera nothing can be more conclusive.

Only other actual reason could be that some one had borrowed your car and he agrees to pay.

Q Who receives a ticket for running a red light detected by a camera system?
A The registered license plate holder receives the ticket, regardless of who was driving the vehicle.

Q What is the penalty for running a red light based on evidence obtained by a camera system?
A The set fine for running a red light detected by a camera system is $155.00, plus a $35.00 victim surcharge. Demerit points are not issued with violations detected by the red light camera system.

From http://www.toronto.ca/transportation/redlight_cameras/faq.htm

At certain intersections in the city red light cameras have been installed to catch drivers who disobey the traffic lights. When the drivers are caught they receive their notice in the mail. If this is the case, it is most advisable to pay the fine as it will not appear on a driver abstract. This is treated as a parking infraction because they do not have your driver's license available by photo and can only send the Notice of Infraction to the owner of the vehicle stated under the owner. These infractions do not carry any demerit points and that is why the fine is so high. You will not gain anything by taking these tickets to court. This is clearly stated above in the Highway Traffic Act.

I fought the ticket. Plead guilty with explaination ( your story). That day everybody got reduced payment.

This will never have any demerits points. You will pay reduced amount. I paid $75 for $180 ticket.

Now that you have acknowledged that you were the driver as you've plead guilty to the traffic violation, Shouldnt and wouldnt it come on your drivers abstract? Now that would be a hefty price!!! :D

Can u check ur abstract and let us know?
