My close family member is migrating to Canada. His age is 52 and has mild diabetes since last two years and is taking medicine. Would he be eligible for any kind of life insurance? Any help/suggestion would be appreciated.

Yes he would be, but the premium comes at a premium, even if the diabetes is under control.
I.e if he is looking for a sum insured of $100,000 and say the 'normal' premium is $100, he would have to pay $110 or $115.
