Dear Halda,
You didn't mention your country name but if you are from India my first and last suggestion is don't come here. The Dollars doesn't grow on trees here what most of us think when we plan to immigrate to Canada or some other country.
I am sure you will find it quite negative and many of other readers too but that's the fact. Yesterday I made a post about the canadian health system just read that and you will understand the situation very well.
Option 2: Most of the domestic use stuff in Canada is imported from China including the plumbing stuff. Also ther are manufacturers in Canada and USA.
There are 3 giant superstore chains hare in Canada, Home Depot, Rona and Lowes (you can search on net by name) for the construction items. Apart from these you can also buy some stuff in Walmart, Zellers, Canadian Tire etc. These are also big stores and all of these biggies have direct contacts with the suppliers. Now you can imagine your situation where you will sale your items because to get the orders from these stores you have to clear many conditions like 10 yrs. experience in Canada, Size of the company, turnover(in millions of Dollars) etc.
I hope the picture is more clear now.
So sit back, relax and invest the money in your existeing business which you want to waste by coming here. If you got excess money than just come here as a visitor get your PR and go back in 2 months.
Ajay
Thanks Ajay/Beni for your honest first and last suggestion not to come to Canada.
I really appreciate your comments and do not take it as negative at all. So dont worry.
Sorry i forgot to mention my home country and also some of my personal information, which might help you change your suggestion.
1. My home country is PAKISTAN
2. I have lived and worked in USA for 5 years from early 2001 to 2006, on H1-B visa.
3. I have visited CANADA 7 times in my life, so the Jargon "Dollar does not grow on trees" is not new for me.
4. I have close relatives living in Canada since more than 25 years, which includes my (Paternal/Maternal) Aunt, Uncle, Grandfather, Grandmother, and Cousins.
Regarding your Option 2, I would say that a Seasoned Businessman will never dream of catching the big fish (Biggies) from the day one. The 10 years experience condition and turnover in millions of dollar to get the orders from these biggies are tough but not impossible. " EVERY LONG JOURNEY STARTS WITH A SINGLE STEP"
I would still appreciate if you comment on this after reading the above. I am still open to suggestions and comments, positive and/or negative from you or any other CD.
Thanks.
Q1: How to get the import Lic, if there is any ?
The process of incorporation includes your filing for GST (Goods and Services tax). In the same application you will have the option to select a Import/Export License number. It is very simple to incorporate and get your license.
Q2: How to find the import tariff import duty on the commodity ?
Please see link
http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/import/menu-eng.html
Q3: Which place in Toronto is best place to do Wholesale business ?
It depends!!! You can have your business anywhere just work the logistics and you should be good.
Q4: How the Tax structure work in Canada for doing Import ?
If your product attracts import duty you pay that and on top you will not collect GST when you sell wholesale. If retailing then you do.
Q6: How to find the customers interested in my commodity ?
What is your commodity???
Q7: Is it worth trying to start business thru ebay stores ?
May be!!! very open ended be specific.
All the very best!

Dude
There is some correction in Q4 as I am in import business and doing it every year.
While importing, you pay Import duty+GST, when you sell on wholesale you charge GST (but don't charge PST, GST+PST charged on retail). Year-end, you have to pay GST balance (GST collected-GST paid) as your selling price will be more than you cost price.
