Some economists predict predict that the unemployment rate will be above 10% by the end of this year.
I was listening to NPR and the real unemployment rate is estimated at 16.5%. This includes those that may have stopped looking for work, self-employed that "lost" their contracts/jobs/assignments, etc, etc.
The job loss in June was much higher than predicted and Dow Jones is taking a beating right now with 171 points down.

Good points. As I understand, the emp rate is based on the number of benefit claims and the numbers reported by employers. What abt those whose benefits have run out and are still unemployed? Looks like they are the forgotten lot.
