"Panic set in at the Bombay Stock Exchange with the benchmark Sensex crashing by over 514 points in pre-close trading on Monday on all-round selling by foreign funds in heavy-weighted commodity segment stocks."
My 2c on this:
Pundits will put a spin on this as a "correction". The loser are the small investors, Rs5-10 lakhs range.
Well, who cares for the small investors anyway.
The Indian sensex will pick up this loss in a week. The sensex still has a lot of steam yet in it. If the small investor panics and sells then he will be at a terrible loss.

I guess it would be easier to predict a one day match than to predict the journey of the Sensex. However, the journey towards North has been steady for sometime. So, the law of averages should take over soon.
One thing is for sure. The FII's and the Bigtime Brokers rule the sensex.
Cheers,
Ayaskant.

Sensex is up today by 51 points.
Yesterday, the analysts were predicting another 200 points correction before the market stabalises and so caution is advised.

Sensex crashes by 887 points in pre-close trade on FII selling
The major draggers were index heavy-weight Reliance Industries, which lost Rs 90 at Rs 995, Bajaj Auto by Rs 292 to Rs 2975, BHEL by Rs 237.85 to Rs 2087, Grasim Industries by Rs 222 to Rs 1950.50, ACC by Rs 124 to Rs 788, Tata Consultancy by Rs 110 to Rs 1905, Infosys Technologies by Rs 220 to Rs 3000 and Tata Motors by Rs 94 at Rs 864 and Larsen and Toubro by Rs 197 to Rs 2505
I think its time to buy some of the blue chips (wait for a day or two)
DIO
Loss in one day (example)
Bajaj Auto by Rs 292 to Rs 2975 (10% loss)
Infosys Technologies by Rs 220 to Rs 3000 (7% loss)
ACC by Rs 124 to Rs 788 (15% loss)
The domestic bourses' free fall is the direct effect of the global markets which closed in the red. Besides, the local market has been affected by the setback in global markets due to prospects of further increase in US interest rates.
This was the Sensex's biggest-ever fall !

This is what the indian finance minister had to say :
" No FII has been assessed as a trader as they are investors and this is a manufactured crisis based on uninformed reporting," he told reporters shortly after the stock market closed trading today after a fall of 826 points on reports of withdrawal by FIIs. "

I suspect that the market will recover soon incl. a big uptrend on friday. Looks like a very good buying oppertunity. Just my views. Not set in stone principles.
