You are right. Kallis is an awesome player. Not as glamorous and controversial as Ponting but a better player.
He's the one who has kept South Africa batting together.
On his best days, Brian Lara is perhaps indestructible esp. on a fast paced pitch like West Indies, South Africa or England.
I saw him play in the West Indies during his peak times and he was classical.
No one can beat his style on his best day.
But he doesn't have consistency, temperament and down to ground attitude that Tendulkar has.
Brian got cocky, spoilt and began to think he was above the game.
Pride goeth before a fall, and he made a slow, lacklustre and forgettable exit from the game.
If we don't go by figures, certainly Ponting is way ahead with respect to Tendulkar
