Awesome stuff by Brian Lara and co. Hats off to them Now this brings back nostalgic memories from an era gone by. Anyone here who admired a foreign team more than their own team i.e., West Indies rather than India ?
Gordon Greenidge, Desmond Haynes, Issac Vivian Alexander Richards, Clive Lloyd, Hillary Angelo Gomes, Jeffrey Dujon, (late), Austine Logie, Malcolm Marshall, Michael Holding, Joel Garner, Winston Davis, Andy Roberts he he he !
Now that was the most devastating lineup of cricketers! In a way, it reminded folks of the Aussie cricket team of today...
First you had Greendige and Haynes set a huge ioening wicket partnership. Kush Kasar reh gayi toh Richards comes and smashes the ball all over the park. Lil wonder Sachin Tendulkar still pines for that title of "KING", which I am afraid will remain with Richards for a long time. By this time the match is nearly over. Lloyds then comes, does a short arm pull and match is over !
Of 'cos, before all this, you need to survie a barrage of bouncers, beamers and toe crunching yorkers from those Pace Quartet !
Does anyone from India, who lived furing that memorable 1983 cricket series, have Thums Up souveniers i.e., Cricket bat autographed by these greats ? Flickers also

Yes and many people i know swear by that line up....We had great players too in the 70s and 80s too....my personal fav would be Vishvanath (the most delicious square cut in cricket).

I once made a mistake, but I was wrong about it.
Hg.
U sure it was the square cut ?
I thought Vishwanath was famous for something else
"The Late cut"...a shot many years later Gavaskar played to reach his 10,000 run, the bowler being Tauseef Ahmed.
