Hi,
I am planning to reach Toronto as landed immigrant on July 9. This would be my first visit to Canada as such.
A major consideration for me (in going to Canada) is how long it might take for me to get an IT job, pref in GTA.
I have around 12 years experience as Program/Project Manager and am working in Application Development, Delivery Mgmt as well as IT Consulting.
Technologically I have proficiency in SDLCs like Scrum, Agile as well as experience in technologies like Java, Oracle, AJAX.
Although I do not have Canadian work exp, I have worked in US for about a year as well as with US based companies (Cisco, Honeywell) in India for 5-6 years; not sure if all this would count.
I would really appreciate if someone can guide me as to the MAXIMUM time it could take for me to find a job in Toronto/GTA as that would be a very critical factor in my decision to come to Canada.
Thanks a lot
Rajat
Try contacting them and get some proper help. You have 15 days to do it. If it takes in you going there to meet with them, then do it. Have all your papers handy when you are visiting them. First contact them over the e-mail. http://ciip.accc.ca/
They are the best there is to help you, prior to your move.
Freddie.
send me your resume and I shall ask my friend to forward to HRD in his office. I have sent my email id thro pm. 2-3 months back, he had mentioned some openings.

It is not possible to put a time frame to get any job. It all depends on what skill set company is looking for and what you have. You can try applying through workopolis and other sites and see what response you get. Lack of "Canadian experience" can be a drawback but if some company calls you for interview, they can judge if you are suitable for them or not.

Thanks gopalpai, rajcanada and Freddie.
Looks like I'll have to take my chances either which way
You can consult astrologer or someone similar, they can give you a number you are looking for (Don't ask for refund if it does not happen) .

I think with your experience , lack of Canadian experience may be neutralized ... You would be as good and competitive as any local candidate .. so its all dependent on availability alone .... I would say roughly 1 - 2 months although there s no benchmark ....
