I have an NRO account (citibank) in India, I would like to know if I deposit INR to the account, can I withdraw the equivalent CAD $ amount here in Canada let me know, thanks!
It is not possible to deposit Indian rupees and take out foreign currency in NRO accounts.
Your relatives can make a demand draft in Canadian dollars and send it to you or wire the amount to you. It is subject to FEMA regulations. http://www.icicibank.com/Personal-Banking/account-deposit/Outward-Remittance/faqs.html#1

Money in NRO account can me transfered from India to Canada, subject to making an application by the account holder or by his mandate and filing of CA report in the format given by the bank. This format of RBI is given by the bank , the CA undertakes that all taxes had been paid on the amount being transfer. That amount can be directly transfered to your account In Canada. Transfer takes place in 2-3 days. One CAs report is valid for one transfer only, next transfer need new report.
Best person to guide you is Ms. Sangita Mehra who is relationship Manager in Citibank, Toronto branch in canada. He Tel No. 416 947 5476.Talk to her and she will help and guide you.
