I am planning to take a trip to India in November of 2012. How would I get a reasonable fare?
Is it too early to book the round trip air tarvel tickets? I am inquiring but getting high rates for the fare.

Twice flew in November for $1100 incl tax (to chennai). Once in Etihad and then in Jet...
If the price is less than this, usually it is a conditional ticket with many restriction that would cost you more if travel lapses.
Off-late I see that online deals from Jet is better than the travel guys and same with Etihad.

Reasonable fare for me means fare below $1200 per adult for Kolkata for November'2012 travel.
Would it okay to book so far in advance for Nov'2012 travel?
What are your suggestions? Should I wait or give it a go in terms of booking tickets at this time for travel in Nov'2012?

Nov. 2012 is still a long time away and your budget for Culcutta is quite low. Culcutta is at the eastern part of India and it is quite far from Toronto.
How will the airways know of the Jet fuel prices now? They will come to know once they book the jet fuel futures.
Sales start at the max. 2 months before the date of departure.
If you are expecting an USA/Iran fight or war, please book your non revokable tickets today.

I have travelled in Nov from last three years, very year, and have booked my tickets in between late march - mid April of the year, my tickets were in the range of 1200-1275, except for Nov, 2011, where I paid 1350 for Jet , tickets.
It may be too early now, as they do not have fare out for nov at this time of the year, moreover , they assume you are only enquiring , and not serious to comit your funds this early , prompting them not to dig for better deals,
Keep enquiring with set of travel agents 2-3, on a regular basis, and you shall in all probability get your deal, within 1200-1275 range.
