Cancel aid to India, say some British MPs
By: Indo Asian News Service

London, Feb 6 (IANS) The aid from Britain to India must be cancelled immediately, demanded some British parliamentarians after India's finance minister said they don't need it. The row broke out after India favoured a French firm for a multibillion-pound fighter plane order.

Indian Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee said that New Delhi should "voluntarily" give up the 280 million pounds a year it gets from Britain.

"We do not require the aid. It is peanuts in our total development spending," the Daily Mail quoted Mukherjee as saying.

India has given the preferred bidder status to French firm Dassault ahead of an European consortium that includes British defence giant BAE Systems. BAE had been hoping to partly assemble 126 Eurofighter Typhoon jets at Warton and Samlesbury in Lancashire for the Indian Air Force.

MP Philip Davies sought for immediate cancellation of the Indian aid programme.

"India spends tens of billions on defence and hundreds of millions a year on a space programme - in those circumstances it would be unacceptable to give them aid even if they were begging us for it," Davies said.

"Given that they don't even want it, it would be even more extraordinary if it were to be allowed to continue," he was quoted by Mail as saying.

"There will be millions of hard-pressed families wondering why on earth the government is wasting money in this way," he observed.

Another parliamentarian, Douglas Carswell said this was "concrete proof that Britain's aid programme is run in the interests of Whitehall officials and the DFID machine".

"The fact is that India's economy is growing much faster than our own. We should be encouraging free trade with them and trying to learn from them rather than handing out patronising lectures," he said.

Added MP Peter Bone: "India has its own foreign aid programme. So it is absurd for us to be still giving them aid. They are more than capable of looking after their own issues."

First of all this so called aid is a misconception which is a LOAN given by these BRITISH COLONIALIST to keep us under DEBT trap on compounding interest paid by Indian taxpayer. Its given to India inorder to rob our GROWTH capacity.

Its better to have peace treaty with PAKISTAN AND CHINA and foster TRADE treaties to bolster growth and work hard to maintain our countries TRADE.BUDGET and LIQUIDITY in the market ...rather to find ourselves and our children one day homeless in our own LAND....I think high time for REVIVE SAARC wih free trade of capital and labor and be prospersous like G8 proctectism.

Peace treaty with Pakistan and China?

Lets see the difference between the three countries

China:
A Communist country, which is a bit secular but no democracy and little regard to human rights of its own citizens.

Military has a big role in government. several companies are controlled by military

Pakistan:
A non-secular (islamic) country, with a bit of democracy and little regard to human rights of non-islamic people.

Military and spy agency have upper hand over the civilian government

India:
A secular and democratic country that is based on equal rights for all its citizens regardless of religion, language, race or color

Military is under control of Civilian government

India will always be ready for peaceful co-existence but since that will not help Chinese and Pakistani Military which run governments in the respective countries, they will prefer confrontation

Now you know why it will never happen

Nice Gist of south asian situation by Brown Bear ! In a way the situation is good for India, for increased competitiveness and to avoid complacency ( a typical Indian habit ).

Back to the original topic,
India may not any more require no aide program from the first world but I wonder IFF we are growing so fast, when will those pictures of slums and malnutrition-ed Indian children & animals will stop appearing in media ? When we will be a golden sparrow again , when and how ?

Don't get Intrigued....you know the simple answer. Just empty the pockets of all the corrupt politicians & officials and you will be amazed to see such a flood of wealth in India that it may soffocate poor.

The growth happening in India is a lopsided growth.

A small section of the population are super rich while a majority of the population is losing it's land and is becoming poor, starving and malnourished.

India is an ideal case for a Egypt type revolution.

You cannot have Dalits in states like Orissa and northern states struggling for a square meal per day while Ambani's and tatas are flying in supersonic jets.

Even though we might not take money from UK our constitution and majority of our laws are based on Victorian laws.

India will become a super peer only when a flit in a small town in Bihar can have a decent meal and access to education and healthcare as his primary need.

Why are Indians trying to control Internet as the powers to be have realized thevpower of twitter and social media.

The classic example ongoing now is that the centre is unable to commission the kodiyankulam nuclear power plant in Tamil nadu as the strong christian population there has obtained nearly 54 crores from christian churches and ngo's fro USA, Europe and are protesting so strongly the pro-minority congress under a Christian Sonia maino recently warned using the jail bound home minister p.chidambaram that they will use army to protect the site to start up the Russian technology 13500 crores project.

If a Christian led, pro Christian government cannot stop a Christian opposition for this project what is the future for other projects in India.

We can buy the typhoons in place of Rafales if we are to use the same for the Republic Day parade only. Since we are serious about a real war situation, we prefer Rafale. But we cannot expect the British to have the same thought as the very purpose of dividing our nation as India and Pakistan is to sell all these hardwares to both of us and sit back and enjoy the fight. If our country was not divided we may be bigger and more powerful than even China. Our Pak "brothers" also do not realise the conspiracy played on the sub-contienent, and are ready to cut their noses to half and squint their eyes to please their masters on the northern side of the Himalayas
