Inspite of problems in India, a record number of emigrants are returning to her shores. A completely new phenomenon for modern western observers as well for Indian observers.
This is partly due to new economic opportunities in India and partly due to returning Indians sense of belonging to the place. Some move for an even higher calling and would like to give back to their country of origin.
As has been discussed before in CD, it(moving back) is purely driven by individual circumstances. What would amount to be a good decision for one may not be the same for other.
Out of the 12 points inmate2 has raised, how many do you think are true and how many are false. These are the basic things of a modern life and please be honest in your reply as you used to be in most of your posts.
It could be another can of worms......

Why should I?
I would live you to live in Utopia and not take away our jobs.
BTW, a lot of USA recession returnees are not thinking this way and taking away our jobs. I wish there was a Americandesi.com to prevent them from leaving USA.
Peace

I am a Gents and not a Ladies.
Great post by imate2.
For me, below mentioned are some real concerns for India:
1) Water: Forget about nonstop flow in Indian homes, I am more worried about the quality of water.
2) Electricity: My Air conditioner hardly used to work during June-July because of voltage fluctuations and I used to live in one of the good locality in Delhi.
3) Diseases: So many.
4) Driving: Forget about manners, people are taking out frustration of job, family, money etc. in roads, fighting with each others. I have not seen anyone fighting or even shouting in Toronto roads.
5) Corruptions: Forget about government offices, even private sector is full of corruption.
6) Adulteration in food items: This is the most dangerous thing happening these days especially in vegetables and fruits. You are never sure of what you or your innocent kid is eating. Farmers and suppliers are ready to do anything to earn money and buy big car and house. No control of government.
7) Schools: Schools are demanding anything.
I also love India No doubt India is having lot of job opportunities and offer great salaries. People are getting rich there. But is money everything?????? Money cannot buy clean air, managed systems, civilised people, good quality of food and water.
Only thing I miss here in Canada is my family and friends, what if my family is also here, this place is heaven.
Even if you are earning less, u will still be able to live decent life in Canada. What if you don't have job in India????? I have seen people working in factories in Canada and having own houses and big cars. Can we even imagine this in India?

The whole life in India runs on "jugad". It is a heaven for people who believe in disorderly life. Nothing has changed and nothing will ever change. It is myth that india has some fame in 16th century, majority of the Indians were living in poverity even at that time and the rulers were enjoying.

It actually depends a lot on what you d be earning in India today - Since the salaries have grown exponentially , a 6 figure monthly income can get you close to the best of both worlds as different world being shaped for these high earners .... different super markets , facilities , clean neighborhoods , 24 hour power / water backups , world class medical facilities plus plethora of servants , drivers etc .
A new part of India has emerged in the past 10 - 15 years for the rich .... and continues to be patronized by the high proportion of high salary earners ......
And yet if you expect less income say 25 - 40K bracket , you might have to compromise on the above ..... if you are earning less than that , then yes what ever points Imate2 has quoted , apply to you .

This is really great post, in a succinct way imate2 has given a photograph of life here. Each of them is not 100% true, but does exist. If it was really so bad all these MNCs would not have set up shop. If we can attend them, point by point, India can really be heaven.
On the other side, please do not look down upon people who have chosen to live in or come back to India.
As Delhi Indian has remarked, we live in India as we think our heaven will be complete only if we have our near and dear ones along with us. Like the example quoted from Tamil literature, we can either be the migratory birds which goes in search of greener pastures or we can be like the fish which lives, and dies when the lake becomes dry.
We have made the latter choice. We pray and hope that someday India becomes a better place.
The objective of my post was not a India v/s Canada thread. But more of trying to rationalize and appreciate the growth happening in India despite the problems highlighted.
I was looking at linked in and I was amazed to find plenty of white Americans working for Reliance Industries and if you look at their past they were all key executives in US MNC's.
When we are running away from there these guys are finding something to relocate to Mumbai.
There is something else happening, more and more Asian and ME companies are taking control of North American companies.
For eg: Nova Chemicals, Canada is now owned by Emirates of Abu Dabhi.
SABIC has taken over the global business of GE Plastics and they are investing heavily all over the world. They are setting so many laboratories in USA and recruiting heavily.
The petrochemical business will be shared between India & ME, but will be predominantly controlled by DESI's.
