I am a person who immediately change the channel, when I see a game of hockey or baseball or basketball or football (amrican ishtyle) being played.

Now that hockey is not there, CBC has focussed on CFL and baseball. And people are enjoying it. Same goes for radios like 680 or 640.

But for people like me, who like to watch cricket or soccer or tennis, I wish CBC could satisfy our demands by shifting their focus, taking into account the presence of ethnic groups in GTA and Canada on the whole.

I am not asking Canadians to overnight change their habits. Hockey is their national game and let them enjoy it. But why not promote other "ethnic sports", when there is a chance?

True, that revenue is always the bottomline and american sports will obviously fetch more revenue than cricket/soccer, but why not make a try?

Well, I watch english soccer on a regular basis.

They show it on TSN Sportsnet (channel 22 in the GTA area) and fox sportsworld.

The saturday matches (they show 3 of them these days) start at around 7 am in the morning. Channel 22 is there in basic cable, so I think thats pretty good.
these matches are shown on a delayed basis by 15 minutes.

Sunday and week day matches are show onfox sportsworld (which is an extra and you need to have digital box). Those are live (no delay).

Canada is better than USA in this regard, where you have to take extra channels apart from basic cable to view those matches (or go to an English Pub = cost of Beer and food;) ).

About American football, i have started to watch it in the last year or so. I find it interesting. it took sometime to like it but I think There is much more to the game than physical prowess. (I still dont understand the rules though).

Channel 22 in my TV is the Weather Network.. 26 is TSN.. but most of the time TSN shows Poker/Bowling/Snooker etc which is too BORING.. It also shows the canadian sport on ice where you have to throw a pot like thing to hit another.. i donno .. but thats the lamest sport ever...

You can watch TLN (Latin Network) which is channel 28 on Rogers cable.. and it has soccer games on Saturday and Sunday nights.. they also show soccer in day time.. but not that regularly.. its not in English.. but you can still watch the game.

Toronto1 (15) shows some prehistoric clips of cricket matches on Sunday and Saturday mornings.. i think the program is "Eye on Asia" or something like that.. quite boring.. but you can see some good India-Pakistan clashes highlights.

For live cricket matches you should check the ATN channel which brings matches live on some occassions.. its free if you subscribe to one of their channels.

I would appreciate it if someone could explain this game to me. I have tried watching it, but never could make any sense of it. All I see is people butting and ramming into each other. Most often, they don't even seem to go after the ball. And the game just keeps stopping ever so often.
