When my parents came, they bought tickets in India. Paid Rs. 52,000 to Ottawa from Chennai via Air Lanka during summer (July/August). I think that was a good deal for the season. So, I am wondering if we can get tickets from India to travel from Canada and back. Are they valid? If I save $100 per person, that's $400 I can save.
Any thoughts?

Why you think buying a ticket from India is cheaper? Call Air Lanka toll free number and find out the retails price and discount you can expect (whole sale price) from agent. I was searching for a one year open ticket (new rules require a return ticket and maximum airlines issue 6 months ticket now) for parents on visitor visa. It is available with British Airways alone, they gave me quote in CND in Canada and I can take delivery of ticket at India. It should be possible vice versa.

It is advisable that we should buy tickets from the point of origin of the trip. If we buy it from any other place, there is a surcharge for "extra logistic" support required to book the tickets and also, the same price range is applicable. ie you will pay the same amount as you would have paid if booked from canada plus an extra surcharge.
If you are looking for a deal., please do so in your local airlines office.

I learnt this fact while trying to arrange tickets from India for my trip . BAH-TOR-DEL-BAH.
I got the best offer from KLM Bahrain and was a comfortable flight throughout ............Has any1 tried KLM and if yes how do they rate it v/s other Airlines .

BA has a special deal from Jan 26.05 to March 26, 05. Tickets are cheaper than AI (Senior discount) price, 1 year open ticket. If any of desi parents are planning to visit get hold of this price. Yes you can but it would not be wise. The fare will be higher than what you would pay buying them in Canada.
