True. I did get a quote of $1450 yesterday on Lufthansa for the same timeframe, sounds like the best option at this point...

BL,
Just grab it before it goes away.
Also Try Ethihad. The flights are mostly empty and since they fuel in Abu Dhabi, fares are the lowest. Also take Ethihad for Abu Dhabi to Ahmedabad and you will save a ton.

Peace

Nobody has quoted Etihad yet, don't know why. I'll ask about it. I asked for Emirates and apparently this is real popular and likewise expensive (something like $2500). Will check for Etihad.

Many a times, Etihad has great fares on their website. I remember once looking at $960 fare to Mumbai for Feb. this low may not be possible for the time frame you are looking for.

Though LH at $1450 is great. Maybe you know, LH has a code share flight to Munich and than an onward LH flight to Mumbai. If elders are not travelling this is a great flight as the wait time just an hour and half.

Etihad air normally has its sale towards end Jun- July period, and they do have good deals then.

Thanks for the feedback. I checked Etihad, it does not fly to Ahmedabad yet per the travel agent. Emirates is super expensive (about 2300 bucks).

Based on the rates I heard, I booked the $1450 fare with Lufthansa since this was a limited time offer and the rate was at least a couple of hundred bucks lower than other fares quoted to me. Plus Lufthansa is a pretty good airline, my experience with them has been good in the past (unfortunately, can't say the same about Air France).

The codeshare flight with AC wasn't available for the date I wanted, so picked an earlier flight which means a longer layover at Frankfurt, but this is manageable.
