I was in us before. So, I had 401k account by company. I moved that money to Rollover IRA before comining to CANADA. Most of the money in invested in mutual fund. After a year when I called citibank to move money from the one fund to another. They told they can not move money becuase my resident address is showing country Canada. They told you can sell the fund and withdraw the money but you can not buy the new fund. As you know if you withdraw money you have to pay tax (around 30%) as well as penality (10-15%). So that is not an option for me, I am thinking. Anybody know any other alternative to move this money ?

Change your residence address to somebody you know in US and then buy your new fund
