Hi everybody,
I'm planning to land soon. My country allows to endorse $ maximum 3,000 while minimum required fund is $ 10,000. What are my options?
(1) If I endorse 3,000 and bring additional 7,000 unauthorised, is it acceptable to CIC? Will they ask why I have brought money unauthorised (not endorsed in the passport)?
(2) Can I bring only $ 3,000, as allowed by the government, and tell the CIC that I'll bring rest money later?
(3) What should I do?
Please reply
Hi,
You don't need to bring the whole $10K with you. You can bring some cash 1000-2000 with you and rest you can show CIC your bank statements wherein it should show your balance. They only need a proof of your funds...so bank statements are good too. One more thing...pls read the suggestion I received from Pratickm
“This strategy works well if your source funds are in a currency that is easily convertible or transferable internationally, such as USD, EU, etc.
I am not sure how reliably it will work for INR - may depend upon the officer in the POE.
At the very least, it is better to have the source funds in an international bank that operates in India as well as Canada like Citibank or HSBC, rather than some unknown, small town bank in India.”
Please search cd for "proof of funds" and you'll find many posts on this topic.
Hope this helps.
