I carried my money in ForEx (USD), TCs and the most in DD.
About the ICICI bank thing - I have no clue.

How much settlement fund one should bring for a family of 5( Self,Wife, and 3 children of age 6,14 & 16 years)? What would be the app.expenditure per month including rent, food, fees, etc.?

Keep 3000 - 5000 Dollars as a one time capital budget to spend on basic furniture, clothes plus electronics once you land here.

Keep 2000 dollars as a monthly budget for a five member family, for a very very "basic" survival life in Toronto. I repeat, very very "basic" survival life in Toronto.

I think for 02 persons, it is 11,500 (approx.). That's the amount mentioned in the letter from CHC which was included with my visa.

Thanx

I have quoted the figures from the official CIC website, and have also posted the link above.
Its hard for me to believe that your CHC office has used the word approx. for a defined dollar amount in your visa letter. Can you please check again.
