Carry as little as possible, but do use all of the allowable weight and suitcases.

Can you chew gum and drink beer at the same time. Yes you can. Hey where am I going with this??!!.

Say if you have ONE Transformer and you want to plug the kettle into it, if it does not have a second outlet, you will have to buy another transformer when you want to use the waffle maker at the same time. Now you got the drift, you cannot use the kettle and the waffle maker on one transformer, unless you buy one that will handle both. That will cost you a good chunk. First you will have to find the location where they sell it, then buy it and test it to see if it will work. What happens if one or the other packs up. YEA, you will surely have a transformer to show, but no waffle maker!! If the transformer goes kaput, then, back to square one. What about the parts for all of these. You cannot get them here. We are here on 110v 60 cycles. The makers are smart, they want you to ditch their appliances if it goes kaput or needs new parts.

Like this you can keep on buying additional transformers and load your kitchen and the Apartment or your home and all of the rooms with a transformers every where. That is your choice. After a while you will find it painful running up and down or lugging the transformer every where you want to use this 220 volt appliance or a table lamp. Again, that is your choice. What about the bulbs? that is another story. 220 volt bulbs are Bayonet type. Our 110 volt ones are Screw type. You cannot get them in most of the places. Only at specialty stores, and they cost you an arm and a leg.

Now say if you sell that equipment there for half the price and fold that money and stick it into your wallet, you will have nothing to carry into the plane, ONE LESS SUITCASE. That will cost you a hundred or more, as the airlines will charge you at least that much for a suitcase, plus the other hassles in transit and at the customs etc.,. The lesser you lug, more is the freedom.

Also, no need to buy transformers. And if you want to know, the prices here could be half that of what you pay there when the BOXING DAY sale starts here, for a similar item that works on 110 volt. Check the web too.

Your phones and the tablet are O.K. here. There are service providers who will activate the same on quad band for you. 110 Volt chargers are only 4-5 bucks a piece. One will do, but you can get as many as you want at the dollar stores.

THE LESS YOU HAVE TO CARRY OR MAKE A LIST OF GOODS TO FOLLOW, the better you will find it to be. Shippers do not ship for free, cost you in thousands of dollars. I know sentimental items are hard to part with. So, do carry one each unless the value of it is in six figures.

BUY things here as you find your needs call for them. Make a wise choice.

If you need to use only one appliance at a time you may bring a step up transformer 110 to 220 (capacity more than 700 W, recommend 1000VA)and all of them can work. But it is better to dispose of what ever is not dear to you, since they are available at reasonable price here.

Dear,

You have received good advice from Full House and KPV343.
I am moving to Canada in couple of months. What Kitchen equipment I already have( generally low Power; say upto 800Watts or 1000 Watts) I am taking along. Voltage Convertors are available and generally these have multiple sockets/outlets; order locally in Canada, even though these are readily available in Dubai etc. You want to use the second device at a distance/you could use a wire-extension....
