Every winter approximately one in six Canadians becomes infected with the Influenza (Flu) virus.
Influenza (Flu) is a highly contagious viral infection of the nose, throat and lungs. When struck with the flu the body's ability to fight off other infections can be lowered and occasionally, this can lead to complications such as pneumonia or bronchitis.
In an effort to reduce the impact of Influenza the provincial government again this year is offering free flu shots. This will be made available through Family Physician offices and local community clinics. The optimal time for receiving a flu shot is October and November.
For more information on the Flu and to locate a clinic convenient to you, please refer to the Toronto Public Health phone number and web site.

I don't think flu bug checks the nationality before getting infected.
This is just a virus and we all have to protect outselves.
I would prefer specially this year to take a flu shot...
1) The sympoms of flu are similar to sars..... Me and my family don't want to be in quarantine for two weeks????
2) Every year they change the dose of the shot according the virus, as this year they found some """PANAMA""" virus.
3) I never though of flu shot when I was new to country but now after 5 years my body is adjusted with the atomoshphere here. My immunity is not same as before.
Above all nothing to lose. We have taken enough antibiotic back home since our child hood. Flu shot is nothing comapre to what we have taken in past.
I hope this will help.

Hi all,
It is a private decision to take or not to take the flue shots here, but is someone has flue before she must take it..
But i have met some indian doctors here they say taht we can get flu even due to taking flue shots. while other wise there are chances that we can aviod the flue if we take precautions not to get in touch with the flue affected people..
So, it is better to get in touch with the Inidan doctors here and back in home country and the family doctor here for taking the flue shots decision..
And one must take care of general cautions in dealing with the Winter and Snow in Canada, irrespective of wheateher one has taken flue shots or not..

Enjoy Happiness -- Happy from India
I asked my family doctor and he said that it prevents flu only from very limited viruses. So there is no point thaking flu shots. During first year my two daughters and myself got flu shots, but both the girls had flu!
