Hi,
My younger sister has secured admission at GBC &Seneca (PG in HR) for the September intake , how ever due to some problems she would be able to join me only in Jan. i.e. by that time I would have arrived in Toronto.
I plan to try for the Sep intake Visa , call her to Canada for a week or so , get the admission deffered to the Jan intake & send her back to India.
Need help in
1) What happens to her tution fee for september does it get deffered or that isthe end of it & fresh fee is required for Jan.
2)I wanted to get her Visa issued while I am in India , I presume that if she goes & comes back......it ought not to be a problem wit the visa guys. Would she be requiring another visa when she returns in Jan. How much time would she have to spend in Canada for getting her addmission deffered & Visa regularized
Need Help Boss!!
Dude you sound so confusing, but I will try to answer from what I understand.
When your sister is applying for the visa, make her apply for a multiple entry visa, which will enable her to exit and re-enter Canada as many times as she wants , within the duration of visa granted. Generally the visa is granted for a duration which is equal to the length of time required to complete the study program.
Now once she gets a visa, she need not travel to Canada , in september, to get her visa regularized, she can travel on any date within the visa duration. So you don't have to call her to Canada for deferring the admission to January; it can be done by phone of email or fax. Just make sure that your sister has the renewed admission letters from the college/university, when she enters Canada in January.
Now regarding the tuition fee, well if the college/university agrees to a deferral they will not charge your sister for the september semester/term; all you have to make sure of is whether that college/university actually has a January intake or not, because admission can only be deferred to the next intake term.
I have been through a similar situation when I was applying for a study permit and visa. I had admission for september and I applied for a visa, got it for a year, but for some reason had to defer my admission to January and it wasn't any problem with the Visa guys when I landed 4 months late. They just asked me at the airport, \"why have you came after 4 months\", and I said the same thing, \"I had a problem at home so I had to defer the admission to January\"; and thats it.
Hope this helps
Cheers

Thank Manish ,
Please correct me , do I have an option of ticking Multiple entry while applying for the student visa , I thought it was automatic , i.e. you can come n number of times after getting a student visa. My case is being processed through CANAM at delhi
Further I hope the student visa does not have a last date for entering Canda (Sep Intake....... I have checked the course is also available at Jan) as I would like to avaoid CIC Delhi once I get the student visa issued.
I have both options , Seneca & George Brown for PG certificate in Human Resources , which would U guys recommend
Thanks again for your inputs
Oh yes, you have the option! If you look at the Visa Application form IMM 5257B you will see that section 1 asks you to make a choice between applying for a Single entry visa, a Multiple entry visa or a transit visa. All you have to do is tick the multiple entry option. But be aware that the application fee for a multiple entry visa is $150 as compared to $75 for a single entry visa.
The last date for entering depends on the date untill which your visa is Valid. So for example if you apply for Visa right now and you get a Visa valid till 30th April 2007, then you can travel anytime before 30th April 2007. The only thing is though, since this will be the first time you enter Canada and because it is for the purpose of studies, the consular officers at the airport will ask you for documents that prove that you have admission to the college/university and when you will be starting. After looking at those documents, they will give you a study permit (it's generally for the duration equal to what is required to complete the study program you have selected.)
A study permit is what you need to stay legal in Canada if you are a student, so it doesn't matter if your visa expires, if you have a valid study permit you can still live in Canada and study. You will need the visa only when you leave Canada and want to come back.
I hope this helps.

Thanks a Million freind !
Ome more clarity my sister has been working for the last 4 years , has secured admission/clered IELTS (6.5)........I am concerned about her age, I hope being 32 & an unmarried professional should not be a problem for the visa guys
My friend, your sister can use her age and experience to her advantage. Let me tell you how:
Say if I was in your sister's shoes; the main thing for me to worry about is to convince the consular officer that "I will come back after finishing my studies."
Now, so when I will go for the interview, I will try to build up a case that "HR field has really developed in India specially with the start of outsourcing of HR functions and also with the entry big multinational organizations, the outlook has become very much like it is North America".
Further, I would explain that "even with my extensive work experience I find it difficult to grow in such a changing environment so I decided to get more skills. But the B-schools in India haven't geared up to address such changes and that I feel that it is only logical to go to Canada to experience both the theoritical and practical structures of HR management."
I think if she follows this line of reasoning, she wouldn't face any other problem.
Cheers

Dear Azami,
Could you please share updates about your sister's case? Did she successfully defer her visa?
