Just my rant on the recent Bombay blast. If moderator feels, he can move this thread to appropriate section.

The entire attention of the leaders at G8 summit meeting is focussed towards Israel-Lebanon crisis. Perhaps it may be a strong Jewish lobby in Washington - perhaps some other ulterior motive. Not a single word uttered about Indian bomb blast.

I wonder if there was any effort from Indian government to push anti-terror agenda in this meeting!! Wonder if these bomb blasts received same media attention as the bomb blasts in developed countries!!!

Still no strong words from MM singh to bring terrorists to the task. Just blamed Pakistan for helping the terrorists. Instead, there is some fighting going on between CMs of Gujarat and Maharashtra. Instead of coming together as one country to fight terrorism, we still cannot move forward from our inter-state bickering.

In fact, who cares!!! Such blasts have occurred in past, and will occur in future. We Indians are perhaps used to such indifference from Indian government.

In india & pakistan, bomb blasts happen once every couple of months and people don't care about them anymore.

Any one cares about how many iraqis have been killed in last 2 yrs? bombay blasts are nothing compared to that.

"With war brewing in the Middle East, another tragic international development was bumped from the news — and our collective attention spans — almost immediately. That’s a shame. While last week’s train bombings in Mumbai, India, might not have presented Canadian readers with the same front-page fear factor as the conflict between Israel and Lebanon, its impact — and its lessons — should not be ignored.
Had nearly 200 civilians been killed and hundreds more injured in Islamist terrorist attacks in North America or Europe, we would still be talking about it. The same should be the case when such attacks take the lives of innocent Indians. And we should be no less committed to holding those responsible to account than if New York, London or any other Western city were victimized.
As in other cases, it is not enough to hunt down the terrorists who did this. Just as Afghanistan’s Taliban regime was held responsible for harbouring and assisting al-Qaeda operatives prior to 9/11, and Israel has rightly held Beirut responsible for permitting Hezbollah to launch missiles from Lebanese soil, Pakistan must be held responsible for allowing terror groups — including Lashkar-e-Tayyiba, which Indian investigators suspect of orchestrating the Mumbai attacks — to operate behind a veil of nominal prohibition.
It has not yet been proven that Pakistan was tied to last week’s bombings, and its government has strenuously denied any connection. But Indian officials said yesterday that the explosives used in the attacks are the same type used by Islamic extremists — believed to have some measure of support from Pervez Musharraf’s Pakistani regime — in the Indian-controlled part of Kashmir. Even if no definitive link is proven, Pakistan’s status as a haven for terror groups is well known. In particular, the country’s powerful intelligence agency, the ISI, is known to be shot through with Islamist sympathizers who provide terrorists with everything from sensitive intelligence to logistical support.
While Indians are the primary targets of such groups, they are not alone. Kashmir has emerged as a breeding ground for terrorists with aims far beyond the region — including al-Qaeda, which has recently boasted of its purported Kashmiri presence. Afghan refugee camps in Pakistan provide the main recruiting grounds for the Taliban. Indeed, many of the attacks by insurgents in Afghanistan — including those that have taken the lives of Canadian soldiers — are launched from the Pakistani side of the border. In some places, Pakistan’s security apparatus is absent entirely, leaving control to local tribes who’ve played host to — among other notorious terrorists — Osama bin Laden
For its part, India is taking a hard line with Pakistan; in response to the Mumbai bombings, it has suspended the peace process between the two countries, demanding a “firm commitment” to cracking down on terrorists before moving forward. Yet Western countries continue to tread gingerly. Yesterday, G8 leaders meeting in St. Petersburg were joined by those from other countries — including China, Brazil, Mexico and South Africa — in issuing a statement expressing outrage at last week’s “barbaric terrorist attacks.” Yet the statement failed to mention Pakistan directly.
General Musharraf cannot continue to cherry-pick which terrorists to root out, tacitly endorsing (or at least turning a blind eye toward) others. It is incumbent upon Western leaders, including Stephen Harper, to send a clear message to the Pakistani President that more is expected from him. "

It is just issue of statistics.

How many people die each day in India due to natural and un-natural causes?
What is the percentage of people dying in blasts?

Indians have, perhaps, grown to live with minor fluctuations in un-natural deaths.

I feel it is more about attitude, politics and corruption than stats. Rampant corruption everywhere only makes things easier for the terrorists. Last year's blasts during Diwali in Delhi disappeared from the media very quickly.
