Hello Guys..

We are landing in 1 st week of september.
I want to pursue my career in the field of "Technical Writing"
While going thr' the sites of the colleges around Toronto..I found "Humber College" offers one web based certificate course on this.

Can anybody tell me If I do this course..will it help me to get the job in this field?
Please suggest if any other colleges around toronto offering courses on Tech. writing.

Can some of the senior IT guys on this forum guide me regarding the scope of this field in Canada??

I have done this course from U of T. I donot know if it helps in getting job in this field as I am already in IT field though technical writing is a small part of my job and not the main job.

Tech writing/E-Learning has a lot of potential and is one of the hi-growth areas. If you have some xperience, you can do the course (online) and that would most probably give you a break in one of the local IT firms.

Back home in India, I myself have done a lot of both, including Knowledge Management in Capgemini Ernst & Young, Mumbai.

Actually I have IT background and done a bit of Tech.Writing. while in the development team so I think this course would give me added advantage.

I just enrolled in the technical writing course at Humber and the textbook is quite expensive for me. Is there a way I can get this book at cheaper price. The book is by Roy Hartshorn titled "Technical Manuals: Analysis, Design and Production".
Any second hand book stores or any website that may have this book.
