"Stroll around Bangalore’s The Forum Mall with the bluetooth feature activated on your mobile phone and you could receive a multitude of messages flashing discounts, offers and advertisements from the stores in the mall. "

I think, it is really Europe and some Asian nations that are highly technical and advanced when it comes to usage of latest technologies more in day to day living.

Read this article and see how far they have gone in using "bluetooth" comunications technolugy.

Here in the "Americas" we use it hardly for "Headsets/ Internet" etc .

I never heard of this kind of usage of bluetooth.

Even when it comes to Cell Phones, I have seen people here use only 50 % of its potential, where as in India People know inside - out of it and they use every single feature of it. even Test Messaging is a recent development in USA and now only more people are using it.

It is amazing to note this, as we think we are in the high tech part of the world. but seems it is only in terms of $$$$... and we are not really into the technology world.

What do ou think?

I had heard about this concept years ago, probably when the bluetooth was in the concept stage. I think it was thru my organization. Good to know that it's a reality and that too in India.

We have things called privacy regulations that prevent a lot of these INTRUSIVE marketing practices from taking over our lives. Please use the term "we" carefully. I have been texting for years now. And really what do you care how the "calculator crunches the numbers". All you should care about in where to punch the numbers and where to read the result. unless you have way too much time on your hands!
