I would appreciate information from my desi friends who are conversant with real estate law and practice.
I bought a house about 4 years back and plan to sell it around May, when the mortgage comes up for renewal. My wife is a co-owner of the house.
Since my wife will not be around here in May '09, I would like to get a power of attorney (n my name) to sell the house. Is this possible? should I contact a real estate lawyer to get this done or is there a standard format that I should follow. Is it enough to have this typed and signed and notarized?
I thank you in advance for the help.
Yes, you can get a POA made before she leaves Canada. It is a simple one visit to your lawyer's office.
