SUCCESS IS NOT A DESTINATION, BUT A JOURNEY...............
Hi,
I have been living with this inconvenience for years now, so I speak from experience (and doctor's advice):
1. I don't think that there is any "diet" for acid reflux. I was told to observe which food brings about this condition in me and to avoid it. For eg, I avoid "Urud" dal and milk like plague.
2. One should to stay off coffee and chocolate as these highly relax the sphincter muscles at the end of the food pipe and so, if you already suffer from reflux, a relaxed sphincter muscle there will just aggravate the condition.
3. Cold, dry weather conditions do tend to cause more acidity and hence, more reflux, so if you are in Canada, I don't know what you can do about the weather.
4. From the Ayurvedic pint of view, Ginger has been seen to somehow counter the reflux ( don't know how), so you might try to incorporate more of that in your food.
5. Try and avoid onion, garlic, non-veg, aerated drinks... anything that increases the acid secretion in your stomach.
6. You could try and have more ripe bananas (too many, and you might put on weight!) . Ripe bananas counter the effect of a reflux.
7. I don't know about avoiding curd. My body chemistry is such that I have to avoid all milk product, be it curd or ice cream or paneer. You need to see how your body reacts to these things and then decide.
All the best

I used to suffer from bad acidity, but not any more. I did a 2 week intestinal cleansing with psyllium and bentonite and it helped me a lot. You might also want to try organic apple cider vinegar everynite. I take 1 tablesppon of it every nite. But if you are taking apple cider vinegar make sure you brush your teeth after having it cos it may be too alkaline for your teeth and gums. Here is a link abt ACV.

Hi rsk12 - Out of curiosity, does this intestinal cleansing have to be done under medical supervision?
