Right now my cv is not something to talk about. I have been working as a system administrator in a law firm for last 13 years. Been the do it all for them. Accounts / cashier / invoice maker / system problems trouble shooter / pc imaging / printer adding / user creation addition etc. (but not a hardcore system administrator as it was a big firm and for any big problems you had to report to help desk and they would resolve it.)

BUT.

I do not have hardcore experience in anything. Now suddenly the time has come to decide.

What is your advise. I would like to do an MBA or a similar course related to IT field and jump start my career.

After a long time I find a genuine and honest post from a Canadian aspirant. You have done a SWOT on yourself and you know your strengths and weakness. You have already won half of your Canadian Battle.

You are the person ideally suited for Canada. You do not have a baggage of past degrees, experience and accomplishment. You will do what is needed to put bread on the table. You also will ideally represent the concept of Dignity of Labor. You will also be ideally suited to do multiple jobs for keeping the family afloat.

Many who come from India have long degrees, experience,positions and when they land here they land with a big THUD !.They are never able to recover or reconcile with the change in status. They are always chasing for the DREAM and never here or there.

Once you land here first take up a part time job to keep paying the bills and keep looking for an office job. When we come from India or ME we think desk job is good. But when you land here you'll find that the desk jobs are paying lesser than factory jobs and more importantly they do not offer employment security versus unionised factory jobs where they cannot throw you out on a jiffy.

I suggest you should land in Mississauga, Brampton, Rexdale and Etobicoke area. Find a basement in mississauga/brampton or a two bedroom flat at Dixie-Bloor/Malton put your kids through to school. You should get a drivers license at the earliest at any cost so that you can drive around for better paying jobs. Take up any job(part time) and do not dip into your savings. Do not waste your time on a MBA or any fancy degree, you should try to enroll on a weekend course preferably in a community college on book keeping or accounting to pick up a local certificate. You will realize that after you land here. Once you have a part time job and then you can also take up a desk job (glorified as Office job) and make $12 per Hour. The whole game is maximising your hours per week to make more money home. Once you have settled and can bring home around $3000 gross per month with the CCTB Extra you will be quite comfortable. But this will come at at cost of working about 12 to 13 hours per day without the commute time/break times. Once you are settled and your wife is adapted to new environment, she can take a part time job and you can quit your part time job to spend more time with your family.

Please ensure that atleast one of your jobs will have health insurance so that you can pay for your eye, dental and other costly medicines.

I presume that your interests are getting into IT and I think it should not be hard to get into this area.

My assessment of Canada is that half of the battle is won if you have good presentation skills. The rest can be easily taken care off. Personally, I think one should land with enough research and mind determined on particular goal. There is too much noise here in Canada which will drift you away from your goal.

Yes, one thing I would like to highlight, if you have good english speaking skills and professionalism you will achieve what you are looking for in Canada. I am saying this as an ex-gulfian.

2. Scored a high of 7.5 overall bandscore in IELTS, and uparwala jhoot na bolwaye my english is quite good.

3. My PC support and networking skills are also good. (MCSE + CCNA certified)

4. Vandemataram your advise is perfectly right and I aim to initially take up a part time job to not dip into my savings and later on try and get into the right groove for myself.
