Thats probably right without RRSP .It is simple just calculate your US taxes and deduct from cdn one . If you pay more in US then you pay less in canada and vice versa . Ultimately you pay cdn tax rate on your US income .

Next year will be good for you as you will have RRSP to reduce your cdn taxes ..
