So what is the solution? Is there anyone who is genuine in charging?

I think whatever GG is paying is genuine enough. In fact, a gora would charge much more.

If you're incorporated and get a accountant to handle everything I'm sure he'll charge about 500 or more per year. What monk-e is saying is that you don't have to be a genius to do this stuff yourself too.

I agree, its doable if you're willing to go the distance and do the appropriate research.

I am a CA (from India) with experience of working in more than 5 countires. I find filing a corporate return very combersome here in Canada - and if anyone is able to do it for 300 bucks, I would love to get it done from him myself. Last year I got it done from a CA here and they charged me 1000 bucks after I had given them the final print of financial statements with all schedules etc.

The reason is that corporate returns is not only complicated but takes up a minimum of about 50-60 pages of printed material for a simple return (which can take upto 40 minutes of printing alone on a simple deskjet printer!). The software for the T2 filing is expensive and has to be bought every year. This year I have done my return myself (using a practising accoutant friends's software) and still I am not sure whether it is done correctly or not.

Anyone who is ready to do it for you with full responsibility will charge for his expertise, time and above all, for the insurance he takes for professional liability. If a software consulting company can bill 150$ per hour, why shouldn't a professional accountant do the same. Infact, having seen a few accountants here who give compilation service in Canada, I doubt if a guy charging only 300 bucks would do a clean and nice work (and will he also be able to advise you how best to file returns and do tax planning???)

You need to have an experienced accountant who is willing to work for you either on consultancy basis or on call(whenever required).Preferably someone who is familiar with Owner Managed Businesses since there are lot of tax advantages and tax planning strategies for both owners and corporations. Also GST and PST issues.

I would like to introduce myself as a corporate accountant working in a Canadian Small Owner Managed Business for the last three years. I am intimately familiar with the issues that arise(personal taxation, corporate taxation, GST, CCRA,banks and raising funds).I am also acquainted with US laws(since you are likely to be doing business either with or through US residents as well).

I would be happy to meet with you and discuss what I can bring to the table.

I can be reached at

Thanks
Sathish

I'm an independent software consultant and have a incorporated company.

Looking for a good accountant to handle company accounting ( taxes, filing regularly for GST etc, EI and CPP deductions etc etc...). It would not be very complicated since I'm the only employee currently.

What kind of accountant should I be looking for, i.e. with what qualification? How much would i be paying approximately?

Anybody know anyone good in or around Mississauga? Your recommendations are appreciated.

Hello Friends:

I am an accountant from India as well as certified general accountant in Canada, working for corporate company for bout 3 years in accounting and taxation. I have a Big Five accounting firm background(Price Waterhouse Coopers) and corporate finance/ taxation experience.

Having read all the above posts, I would be happy to undertake the work of accounts, GST and T2/T1 as a package deal for about $ 500/=at a minimum, depending upon the volume of sales and turnover. Since I am Indian, I can well understand the concerns of you guys, in terms of tax planning, fund remittances to India, minimisation of double taxation on world income and on how to do trusts and financial planning.

I am also prepared to audit your books(in case you yourself do the books of account) and to do the corrections and T2 returns. In that case, fees would be relatively lower.

Should anyone be interested in availing of services, please do not hesitate to contact me at,ca

Regards
Sathish

I would suggest that anyone starting up any kind of small business take an Income Tax Preparation course. The course gives you a good idea of what you can and can't do when filing a Canadian Tax Return and also some very good tips when it comes to setting up books for your business. I took the course and now do the bookkeeping and accounting for my husband's small business.
