I am doing the same job here in India. i already have a engineering degree and an MBA in International Business from reputed universities in India with over 10 years of work exp. and over 6 years of consultancy exp. in export import field.
Further if anybody can help me locate a website giving Canada's export import policy and procedures details.

Thks Guru. These sites r really informative.
If you want to start as a Consultant you have to have a company, jus like in India u can have Sole Prop, Partnership or a Corporation. If you are not Importing or exporting you wont need any special license, except for starting of a company. But If you want to work then you are looking to work for Freight Forwarders, logistics specilists and some companies who import or export.

Hey Dude,
Thks for your reply. As a export consultant I help companies who are exporting or importing in different areas as follows:
1. Export development.
2. Product sourcing for imports.
3. Follow up with business clients.
4. Documentation work.
5. Liason with various govt. agencies.
6. Project work.
9. Product development for export purpose.
I do not actually import or export any goods. Just help the companies out on retainership basis.
I am sure I need to form a company may be sole prop. I believe nothing else is required.
Thanks a lot for the info.
Bye
Vijesh
I get your point, most of the freight forwarders do most of the liasoning jobs for the Export or Import companies, so these companies doest have to go to other places for further services, and by this way the freight forwarders have lots of services to offer and client is happy to deal with one person, hence its popular here. If you have 10+ years of exp you can start your own business in that feild.
All the best
