Now's my turn to contribute.
Finally landed in Canada by road from US through Deteroit-Windsor Ambassador bridge. Drove my SUV with Trailer fully loaded.
I was expecting US checkpost first then Canadian, so at the first check post I stopped I said I'm exporting thecar and the lady looked at me and said you want to impot. Then I saw the canadian badge on her & realized it was canadian check post.
Had to go to Immigration counter first there was this young guy asked me for my papers & financial proof. Then he asked me if I already had a place to stay & rental agreement . Though I had rented a basement appt orally from one of the CD members on this site(who is a nice gentleman) . As I did not have a rental agreement the Racist officer said friend's address cannot be permanent address. I explained to him that I will be staying there for 6 montha . Still he gave me a form to fax my address once I find a place & left the counter. That was not the kind of welcome I was expecting. Anyways continued to the customs counter & there was a good gentleman. Took my goods list & goods to follow list. Imported my SUV into canada. He asked me to mail $182.00 to RIV.
When I came out of the customs office was expecting a thorough check of my vehicle & trailer . I've had over 65 boxes. To my surprise the customs guy near my car took the clearnace paper & said you are all set without bothering to check my car or trailer. All my effort of compiling a detailed list of items went in vain!.
It's been 2 days since I came to mississauga . Applied for SIN & opened a bank account with CIBC bank. My wife & kids are yet to land. I'm the primary applicant.
Questions are welcome, I will try to answer as time permits.

Nothing will ever be attempted if all possible objections must first be overcome.
How did you manage to Import your Car into Canada without Exporting it from USA ?
The canadian customs never asked for anything other than the Vehicle title though I had the recall clearance letter they did not bother to check it.
I never saw an US customs post while coming out of US through the ambassador bridge all I saw was the toll booth and once I crossed it there was were directions to Canada and I just followed it .

Uncertain Desi,
Check this website.
http://www.riv.ca/english/html/how_to_import.html
U.S. Customs requires notification of all self-propelled vehicles being permanently exported from the United States. Their regulations state that at land border points:
1. The required documentation must be submitted to U.S. Customs at least 72 hours prior to export; and
2. The vehicle must be presented to U.S. Customs at the time of export.
U.S. Customs recommends that you contact the port of crossing directly to determine exact documentation requirements and hours of operation.
It is a requirement from US customs.
You may have difficulty in case you want to take the car back to USA.
Manjeet444 There is no racism or rudeness here. it is only information.
I did read all those before & I faxed my title 72 hrs before to to US Customs at that port & also called back to verify they received it.
The Canadian customs did look at the title & did not question anything probably because my Title has no lien on it. What the US customs checks for is if it has a lien and whether it is cleared.
