No Sudhish, I would not 100 percent agree with that.
It is a safe practice to choose a user name when you are surfing the net or posting any thing on the net to avoid any possible identity theft.
I believe that the originator of this site has that in mind and hence the registration form for signing up for this site suggested every one to choose a user name other than their original name, which is the best way to avoid a possible identity theft on the 'net'. I also feel that choosing a user name is the right thing to do.
My only question or curiosity was as to how you decide what to choose as a user name and not why you chose the one you have.

I absolutely agree with you.
Infact I am always concerned when at times newspapers/magazines in order to conceal the identity of a particular person use a different name.
How can one be sure that the same name is not of any other person too ?
Infact in all such cases it is ideal to conceal the name by simply calling Mr.X, etc. This would safeguard the interest of all concerned.

my name seemed long and complicated(esp to non-desis) to apply for jobs or any other official communication, esp to the canadian sites and so I tried making it simple by having an id that they would be able to understand..reachpriya@...
When i became a member on this site , i wasnt sure how safe it was..didnt want to take the risk of revealing my original name, so used the user name reachme.
now that I am convinced there's no harm in using ones real name, i dont know how to change it !
boring and practical reason..no freudian analysis possible on this one, i guess!
