I live in a townhouse/condominium end unit in Oakville and pay monthly fees to the condo corporation. They clear the snow and cut the grass. The property is 6-7 years old.
I noticed last week that the drainage pipe coming down from the gutter has fallen off. As far as I know the condo corporation covers all damages on the exterior.
3 years ago, we had some minor wind damage and after some consistent calling/e-mailing I got the property manager at the time to fix it without any charge to me.
The new property manager refused to help at all re: the down spout and said that its entirely our responsibility. I told him about how the previous manager had fixed it. He said thats something the old manager should NOT have done.
Its a small matter of getting a big ladder and re-attaching the pipe but since we pay monthly fees, should'nt the corporation fix it?
Please advise who is responsible for this repair.
Thanks so much!
Every condo or townhouse should have a list of condo rules/strata policies regarding common property (generally exterior maintenance). You should not be on the hook for it, but read your minutes/talk to the property management company. if the person responsible wont help, can you talk to someone else? talk to other ppl in your complex. Talk to the strata committee..
